Information Communication Technology is an information source that is being used to access information easy and faster. The use of ICT in our country South African has not yet developed, it is still in the process of developing especially in rural areas. This barriers may be due to:
- The lack of resources such as computers, printers etc
- Lack of qualified educators who have experience when coming to the usage of technology
- Lack of electricity especially in rural areas our country still have a huge problem when coming to provide electricity in some areas there is no electricity
- Limited classrooms which means there is no space for computer labs
- Lack of technical support such as internet. Most rural schools have no wi-fi
- Poverty is one of the barriers. people who live in porvety their basic needs wont be usage of computers but food so ict is the last thing in their mind
- Lack of capital to start up ict projects, our country is the developing country by that it means for every capital it has,the first priority is to satisfy basic needs of each individual
Information Communication Technology
We are living in a 21st century so usage of Information Communication Technology(ICT) is really important and also in high demand. It is improving really fast so it is really important to be able to use technology as our everyday lives we use technology as a way to reach certain goals. So is really important for us teachers to know how to use computers or to atleast have basic skills.
To improve ICT barriers i think they should start teaching computer skills from primary especially in rural areas. The teachers who do not have computers skills they should start by learning computer skills to be able to teach those skills to learners. More private companies can make donation of computers to disadvantaged schools just like Vodacom company. The government can merge with other companies for funding and donation. Even the people from the community who have computer skills can also help by teaching computer skills in their local schools.
